Associate Veterinarian – Small Animal Practice (Clover Vet, SC)

About Us:

Clover Vet is a well-established, privately owned small-animal veterinary practice dedicated to personalized, high-quality care for our patients and their families. We have been serving the Clover, SC community for 17 years, committed to compassionate, individualized medicine—free from corporate constraints.

We are a two-doctor practice, supported by an exceptional team of skilled, collaborative veterinary professionals. Our facility includes five spacious exam rooms, a double surgery suite, ultrasound, digital radiology, and a fully equipped in-house lab, all within a completely paperless practice management system.

Clover Vet is located in the charming town of Clover, SC, just 30 minutes from Charlotte, NC, and two hours from both the beach and mountains—providing an ideal balance between small-town living and access to urban amenities. It boasts top-rated schools, making it a great place for families, and has specialty and emergency clinics nearby, providing additional support for complex cases.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate, team-oriented Associate Veterinarian to join our growing practice. This is a fantastic opportunity for a veterinarian who values work-life balance, as our clinic is open only 4.5 days a week, with no after-hours emergencies or weekend shifts. Mentorship is available, and we encourage professional development to support your career growth. We want another veterinarian to provide relief, support, and balance—for our patients, our team, and our own well-being.

Additionally, there is a potential opportunity for future ownership buy-in, making this an excellent long-term position for someone looking to invest in their future.

What Makes This Role Unique:

  • Work-Life Balance – We prioritize a healthy work environment and offer flexible scheduling (2-5 days per week, AM or PM shifts available).
  • Not Corporate – We practice medicine that’s best for our patients, not dictated by corporate policies or profit-driven metrics.
  • Supportive Culture – Our team is drama-free, upbeat, and respectful, creating an amazing work environment with low staff turnover.
  • Room to Grow – If you have special interests (dentistry, ultrasound, internal medicine, surgery, etc.), we’re open to adapting the practice to support you.
  • Mentorship Without Formality – Whether you’re a new grad or an experienced vet, we help you navigate real-life veterinary medicine. We provide guidance on interacting and communicating with clients and pets, making appropriate treatment decisions, discussing prognosis, euthanasia, and addressing budget concerns. You’ll learn how to practice real-world medicine in situations involving poor compliance, difficult pets, and emotional owners. We also focus on developing your instincts, helping you handle complex cases with confidence.

Who We’re Looking For:

We prioritize who you are over a long list of credentials. The key qualities we value include:

  • Personality – Friendly, respectful, upbeat, and drama-free.
  • Team Player – A veterinarian who thrives in a collaborative environment, values client relationships, and is committed to compassionate care.
  • Essential Surgery Skills – Ability to perform spays, neuters, and routine procedures (mentorship available).

We also offer flexibility in:

  • Schedule & Work Style – Whether you prefer part-time or full-time, morning or afternoon shifts, we’re happy to accommodate your ideal work-life balance.
  • Career Growth – Future buy-in opportunities are available for those interested, but not required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
  • Eligible for or currently licensed to practice in South Carolina.
  • Clinical experience in small animal general practice, emergency medicine, or specialty care is a plus.
  • Strong skills in preventive care, wellness exams, and client communication.
  • Proficiency in soft-tissue surgery and dentistry (or willingness to learn).
  • Experience in internal medicine, dermatology, and diagnostic imaging (ultrasound, radiology) is a plus.
  • Comfortable handling routine and complex medical cases independently.
  • Interest in mentorship and collaboration with fellow veterinarians and support staff.
  • Commitment to high-quality, individualized patient care with a compassionate approach.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible Work Schedule – Choose 2-5 days per week, mornings or afternoons. No weekends. No after-hours emergencies.
  • Supportive Team – 5 techs/assistants, 3 front office staff (cross-trained), and 2 veterinarians.
  • State-of-the-Art Facility – Ultrasound, digital radiology, in-house lab, double surgery suite.
  • Future Ownership Potential – Buy-in available for the right candidate.
  • A Fantastic Location – Enjoy small-town living with easy access to a major city, the mountains, and the beach.

  • Schedule: 5-day workweek – no weekends, no after-hours emergencies.
  • Healthcare Benefits - Medical, dental, and vision insurance options
  • Continuing Education (CE) Allowance - $2,000 annually + paid CE time off.
