Role Description:

CVETS is seeking a skilled and compassionate full-time, on-site Emergency Veterinarian to join our growing emergency team in Columbia, SC. This is an exciting opportunity to provide emergency care within a supportive and progressive environment. The Emergency Veterinarian will be responsible for triaging, diagnosing, and treating a wide variety of emergency and critical care cases, collaborating with our specialists, and contributing to the overall advancement of veterinary medicine at CVETS. This role requires a highly motivated individual with a strong commitment to providing immediate and life-saving care to our patients.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure to practice veterinary medicine in South Carolina (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Strong clinical skills in emergency medicine and critical care.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities, especially under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality and timely patient care.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a fast-paced, collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with composure and efficiency.

Preferred (considered a plus):

  • Completion of an internship or residency in emergency and critical care.
  • Experience working in a high-volume emergency or referral hospital.
  • Proficiency in a range of emergency surgical procedures.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
