While our main hospital provides 24/7 emergency and specialty care, this clinic focuses on providing timely and efficient care for patients with urgent, but non-life-threatening conditions. Role Description:

CVETS is seeking a skilled and compassionate full-time, on-site Urgent Care Veterinarian to join the team at our new standalone Urgent Care clinic on Sunset Blvd in West Columbia, SC. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the growth of our urgent care services within a supportive and progressive environment, while still being connected to the resources of our main specialty hospital. The Urgent Care Veterinarian will be responsible for triaging, diagnosing, and treating a variety of urgent care cases, determining when transfer to the main emergency hospital is necessary, and maintaining strong communication with clients and our referring veterinarians. This role requires a highly motivated individual with excellent clinical and communication skills, and a passion for providing timely and effective care.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure to practice veterinary medicine in South Carolina (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Strong clinical skills in general practice and the ability to assess and manage a wide range of urgent medical conditions.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities, especially in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality and timely patient care.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team, including knowing when to consult with or refer to the emergency or specialty services at the main hospital.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Ability to handle a busy and varied caseload with composure and efficiency.

Preferred (considered a plus):

  • Experience working in an urgent care or high-volume general practice setting.
  • Familiarity with common urgent care procedures and treatments.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems.
